TAP OR DIE is a feature-length documentary that tells the story of master hoofer Derick Grant. He brought in the funk with Savion Glover and now he’s determined to bring his own hip, rousing show—Imagine Tap!—to Broadway. It was a hit in Chicago, but the show faces a convoluted course of obstacles in the Big Apple—the ghosts of the Big Band Era, the pitfalls of commerce, and an abiding legacy of racism.
