The 1986 launch of Space Shuttle Challenger was meant to be a special occasion, with the first civilian, a school teacher named Christa McAuliffe, being launched into space. Instead, 73 seconds after blastoff, the space shuttle engulfs in flames and breaks apart in the sky.
